Device makers
You build a connected device and you are not a compliance team. The Cyber Resilience Act now asks you for a list of the software inside the product, a way to hear about security flaws, a risk assessment, a technical file, and a declaration you sign. Nobody has told you which of these is the real work and which is a form.
Some of it already applies. Since 11 September 2026, if a flaw in your product is being actively exploited or a severe incident hits its security, you have 24 hours from becoming aware to warn the authorities (Article 14). Most of the rest applies from 11 December 2027. You want to know what to do first, in plain English, without hiring a consultant to read the Regulation for you.
The asks more of a maker than this (the CE mark, for one). These eight are the paperwork Declarable is built around.

| Drafts a guided risk assessment against a threat library for connected devices, for you to review. |
| Technical documentation — the file that describes your product and shows how it meets the essential requirements | Drafts the technical file from your product record and SBOM and asks you for the rest, for you to review. |
|---|
| User information — what you tell your customers: who to contact about flaws, how long updates last, how to use the product safely | Drafts an information sheet for your manual or website, for you to review. |
|---|
| Declaration of conformity — a statement you sign saying your product meets the requirements | Drafts the CRA section of the declaration you already sign. The scope check says which assessment route your product is likely to need. You sign it yourself. |
|---|
| Support period — how long you commit to delivering security updates | Records the end date of your support period on the product. |

Annexes are the numbered lists at the back of the Regulation: Annex I holds the essential cybersecurity requirements, Annex II what you tell users, Annex V the declaration of conformity and Annex VII the technical file.
