zcbor in Zephyr firmware: identifiers and CRA notes
·
What it is
zcbor
Notes on this component
zcbor, a small CBOR encoder and decoder with a generator that builds code from CDDL descriptions. It decodes CBOR off the wire, so it is on the input-parsing path of whatever protocol uses it — in Zephyr most often SMP/mcumgr device management. No advisory found against zcbor (NordicSemiconductor/zcbor) as of 10 October 2026: the repository's GitHub security advisories list is empty, no NVD record names it as the affected product, and NVD has no CPE for it, so neither a CPE nor a GHSA check will match this component by itself.
Where it hides in a firmware SBOM
Zephyr lists a west module by its west name, with no PURL or CPE. Vulnerability feeds cannot find it from that listing alone, which is why the SBOM check adds the identifiers below.
The identifiers we assign
pkg:github/NordicSemiconductor/zcbor@{version}
{version} is filled in from your build. The version is read from the upstream release tag.
The SBOM check adds these identifiers to a component your build listed without them.
