Trusted Firmware-A in Zephyr firmware: identifiers and CRA notes
·
What it is
Trusted Firmware-A
Notes on this component
Trusted Firmware-A, the secure-world firmware on Cortex-A parts (the Cortex-M equivalent is `trusted-firmware-m`). It is the root of trust: it runs before and above everything else on the chip. Its advisories are published as numbered TFV notices at trustedfirmware.org, and three of them carry CVEs: TFV-11 / CVE-2023-49100 (the SDEI service passes the register argument of sdei_interrupt_bind straight to plat_ic_get_interrupt_type without validating it, giving a read out of bounds; fixed in 2.10), TFV-10 / CVE-2022-47630 (the X.509 parser that reads boot certificates reads out of bounds through get_ext and auth_nvctr; 1.2 through 2.8) and TFV-8 / CVE-2018-19440 (information disclosure; through 2.0). This row sets no CPE: of the three, only CVE-2022-47630 carries an NVD CPE configuration at all (trustedfirmware:trusted_firmware-a), so a CPE check alone misses the other two and this component is matched by name.
Where it hides in a firmware SBOM
Zephyr lists a west module by its west name, with no PURL or CPE. Vulnerability feeds cannot find it from that listing alone, which is why the SBOM check adds the identifiers below.
The identifiers we assign
pkg:github/ARM-software/arm-trusted-firmware@{version}
{version} is filled in from your build. The version is read from the upstream release tag.
The SBOM check adds these identifiers to a component your build listed without them.
Honest gaps
Vendor: arm.
This row has no CPE.
