TF-PSA-Crypto in Zephyr firmware: identifiers and CRA notes
·
What it is
TF-PSA-Crypto
Notes on this component
The PSA cryptography core, split out of Mbed TLS into its own repository and release train. The same code that used to ship inside Mbed TLS now has its own version number, so an Mbed TLS advisory may land here under a different version. Advisories are now filed against it by name: CVE-2026-34875 (a buffer overflow when exporting a finite-field Diffie-Hellman public key; 1.0.0, fixed in 1.1.0), CVE-2026-25835 (the pseudo-random number generator misuses its seed; before 1.1.0) and CVE-2026-34871 (a predictable seed in that same generator; before 1.1.0). NVD states trustedfirmware:tf-psa-crypto for all three (CVE-2026-34875, CVE-2026-25835, CVE-2026-34871) and no arm:tf-psa-crypto; the older arm vendor appears there only for arm:mbed_tls. A west spdx document that says arm:tf-psa-crypto keeps its own CPE.
Where it hides in a firmware SBOM
Zephyr lists a west module by its west name, with no PURL or CPE. Vulnerability feeds cannot find it from that listing alone, which is why the SBOM check adds the identifiers below.
The identifiers we assign
pkg:github/Mbed-TLS/TF-PSA-Crypto@{version}cpe:2.3:a:trustedfirmware:tf-psa-crypto:{version}:*:*:*:*:*:*:*
{version} is filled in from your build. The version is read from the upstream release tag.
The SBOM check adds these identifiers to a component your build listed without them.
