IPv4 in Zephyr firmware: identifiers and CRA notes
·
What it is
IPv4
Notes on this component
IPv4 in Zephyr's IP stack. CVE family is header and fragment handling on packets that arrive before any authentication — the classic remote-reachable embedded network bugs. Advisories filed against IPv4 include CVE-2026-10666 (parsing an address with a port overflows a stack buffer, which upstream notes may reach remote code execution depending on how the application calls the parser; affecting releases after 1.10.0, no fix version recorded), CVE-2026-10639 (the ICMPv4 echo-reply path reads a packet's interface after the packet is sent, fixed in 4.5.0) and CVE-2026-10636 (the same use-after-free in the IGMP send path, fixed in 4.3.1 and 4.4.1). CVE-2025-12899 and CVE-2023-7060 are the earlier ICMP and packet-handling faults.
Where it hides in a firmware SBOM
It is compiled into the kernel image when CONFIG_NET_IPV4 is y. It does not appear in west spdx output; the only trace is the .config file in your build directory.
The identifiers we assign
cpe:2.3:o:zephyrproject:zephyr:{version}:*:*:*:*:*:*:*
{version} is filled in from your build. The version is the same as your Zephyr version.
The SBOM check adds these identifiers to a component your build listed without them.

- List this component in your SBOM. Annex I, Part II (1):
- Ship the version with no known exploitable vulnerabilities at release. Annex I, Part I (2(a)):
- An SBOM without this subsystem under-reports what is in the image. Annex I, Part II (1):
