DHCPv4 client in Zephyr firmware: identifiers and CRA notes
·
What it is
DHCPv4 client
Notes on this component
DHCPv4 client. CVE family is option parsing on offers from any host on the link that answers first, which runs before the device has any trusted network identity. One advisory is filed against the DHCPv4 client: CVE-2026-10773, an out-of-bounds read in the message-type name lookup caused by measuring a name array in bytes instead of elements, fixed in 4.4.2. Nothing else as of 9 October 2026, which leaves the option parsing described above untested by the advisory record rather than shown sound.
Where it hides in a firmware SBOM
It is compiled into the kernel image when CONFIG_NET_DHCPV4 is y. It does not appear in west spdx output; the only trace is the .config file in your build directory.
The identifiers we assign
cpe:2.3:o:zephyrproject:zephyr:{version}:*:*:*:*:*:*:*
{version} is filled in from your build. The version is the same as your Zephyr version.
The SBOM check adds these identifiers to a component your build listed without them.
