Nordic nRF70/nRF71 Wi-Fi driver in Zephyr firmware: identifiers and CRA notes
·
What it is
Nordic nRF70/nRF71 Wi-Fi driver
Notes on this component
RENAMED since the ticket candidate list was written: at the pinned `v3.4.1` tag, `drivers/wifi/` in `sdk-nrf` has only an `nrf71/` subdirectory (`menuconfig WIFI_NRF71`), no `nrf70/` — `CONFIG_WIFI_NRF70` does not exist as a Kconfig symbol at this tag. This is the host-side driver SOURCE (`drivers/wifi/nrf71`); the firmware patch the chip itself runs is the separate `nordic-nrf70-wifi-fw` blob row, which this symbol does not by itself imply is present (a `.config`-only upload has no firmware file to pattern-match). Zephyr's own nRF70 driver (`drivers/wifi/nrf_wifi` in the Zephyr tree, not this one) carries CVE-2026-10664, an out-of-bounds write from an unchecked TWT flow count in a power-save event, fixed in Zephyr 4.5.0; it is filed against the Zephyr kernel and does not describe this driver. No advisory names this sdk-nrf driver as of 10 October 2026: none of the CVEs NVD lists from Nordic's own CVE Numbering Authority, nothing in GitHub's advisory database for sdk-nrf, nothing in NVD. It is source, not a binary, but it has no CPE, so there is no public identifier to match against: a vulnerability in it will not appear in a match here, and a maker has to watch Nordic's own security advisories for it.
Where it hides in a firmware SBOM
It is compiled into the kernel image when CONFIG_WIFI_NRF71 is y. It does not appear in west spdx output; the only trace is the .config file in your build directory.
The identifiers we assign
No PURL and no CPE are recorded for this row.
{version} is filled in from your build. The version is read from the version your SBOM already carries for it.
The SBOM check adds these identifiers to a component your build listed without them.
Honest gaps
Vendor: nordicsemiconductor.
This row has no CPE and no PURL, so feeds cannot be matched by identifier.
