Nordic CryptoCell and Oberon crypto libraries in Zephyr firmware: identifiers and CRA notes
·
What it is
Nordic CryptoCell and Oberon crypto libraries
Notes on this component
Same component as the `nordic-cc3xx-crypto` blob row (same `upstream.name`): the CryptoCell hardware-accelerated PSA Crypto driver (`nrf_cc310_mbedcrypto` / `nrf_cc312_mbedcrypto`, chosen by part). `CONFIG_PSA_CRYPTO_DRIVER_OBERON` (the sibling row) is the software fallback; a build may enable either or both. CVE-2021-29415 (non-constant-time ECDSA in the CryptoCell 310 accelerator lets an attacker who can time signing recover the private key) is filed against the nRF52840 chip's firmware, not this library, so it will not match here. TF-M's CVE-2023-40271 (its CryptoCell driver compared only 4 of 16 ChaCha20-Poly1305 tag bytes) is in TF-M's own driver, not this one. No advisory names this driver library as of 10 October 2026: none of the CVEs NVD lists from Nordic's own CVE Numbering Authority, nothing in GitHub's advisory database for sdk-nrfxlib, nothing in NVD. It ships as a prebuilt binary and has no CPE, so there is no public identifier to match against: a vulnerability in it will not appear in a match here, and a maker has to watch Nordic's own security advisories for it.
Where it hides in a firmware SBOM
It is compiled into the kernel image when CONFIG_PSA_CRYPTO_DRIVER_CC3XX is y. It does not appear in west spdx output; the only trace is the .config file in your build directory.
The identifiers we assign
No PURL and no CPE are recorded for this row.
{version} is filled in from your build. The version is read from the version your SBOM already carries for it.
The SBOM check adds these identifiers to a component your build listed without them.
Honest gaps
Vendor: nordicsemiconductor.
This row has no CPE and no PURL, so feeds cannot be matched by identifier.

Vulnerability data changes daily. Check the version you ship in the SBOM check.
CRA notes
- List this component in your SBOM. Annex I, Part II (1):
- Ship the version with no known exploitable vulnerabilities at release. Annex I, Part I (2(a)):
- This ships as a binary. Ask the vendor for their SBOM and their advisory feed. A request you can send Annex I, Part II (1):
