Matter (connectedhomeip), nRF Connect SDK fork in Zephyr firmware: identifiers and CRA notes
·
What it is
Matter (connectedhomeip), nRF Connect SDK fork
Notes on this component
Same component as the `ncs-matter` west module row (`versionRule: module:matter`, so it is skipped once that module is already in the inventory, same as MCUboot's own subsystem row): `menuconfig CHIP` lives in `sdk-connectedhomeip`'s `config/zephyr/Kconfig`, the base symbol every Matter build enables. Present only to surface Matter from a `.config`-only upload where no west module was listed. Matter's flaws are filed in NVD against the Matter SDK (connectedhomeip), not against Nordic: they include CVE-2024-56317 (WriteAcl deletes every ACL entry before validating the new ones, through 1.4.0.0), CVE-2024-56318 (a TCP packet with a zero message size dereferences null, through 1.4.0.0) and CVE-2025-56363 (a null dereference in ReadRevisionAttribute, before 1.4.0). This row has no CPE, so none of them will appear in a match here; a maker has to compare the Matter version in the SDK release against them. The project-chip/connectedhomeip repository has published no GitHub security advisory as of 10 October 2026.
Where it hides in a firmware SBOM
It is compiled into the kernel image when CONFIG_CHIP is y. It does not appear in west spdx output; the only trace is the .config file in your build directory.
The identifiers we assign
pkg:github/nrfconnect/sdk-connectedhomeip@{version}
{version} is filled in from your build. The version is read from the version your SBOM already carries for it.
The SBOM check adds these identifiers to a component your build listed without them.
Honest gaps
Vendor: project-chip.
