mldsa-native in Zephyr firmware: identifiers and CRA notes
·
What it is
mldsa-native
Notes on this component
ML-DSA (FIPS 204), the post-quantum signature scheme, as a C implementation. New code on the signature-verification path, which is where a bug defeats secure boot or firmware-update checks. No advisory found against mldsa-native (pq-code-package/mldsa-native) as of 10 October 2026: the repository's GitHub security advisories list is empty and no NVD record names it as the affected product, and there is no CPE for it either. The ML-DSA flaws NVD does carry are against other implementations of the same scheme — CVE-2026-24850 (the Rust `ml-dsa` crate accepted signatures with repeated hint indices, which FIPS 204 forbids) and CVE-2026-22705 (a timing side channel in RustCrypto's Decompose during signing) — and say nothing about this C code.
Where it hides in a firmware SBOM
Zephyr lists a west module by its west name, with no PURL or CPE. Vulnerability feeds cannot find it from that listing alone, which is why the SBOM check adds the identifiers below.
The identifiers we assign
pkg:github/pq-code-package/mldsa-native@{version}
{version} is filled in from your build. The version is read from the upstream release tag.
The SBOM check adds these identifiers to a component your build listed without them.
