LwM2M in Zephyr firmware: identifiers and CRA notes
·
What it is
LwM2M
Notes on this component
LwM2M device management client, built on CoAP. CVE family is the CoAP layer beneath it plus TLV/SenML payload decoding and bootstrap-server handling — a management channel, so a bug here is a path to changing device configuration. Advisories filed against the LwM2M client include CVE-2026-10672 (a remote out-of-bounds read in firmware-pull URI handling, fixed in 4.5.0), CVE-2026-14368 (an out-of-bounds write in the OMA-JSON string parser, fixed in 4.4.2) and CVE-2026-18746 (the client dereferences null when the CoAP block-transfer context pool is exhausted, fixed in 4.5.0). CVE-2020-13602, a remote denial of service in the TLV write path fixed in 2.4.0, is the earlier fault in the same decoding family. This is a management channel, so each of these is a step towards changing device configuration.
Where it hides in a firmware SBOM
It is compiled into the kernel image when CONFIG_LWM2M is y. It does not appear in west spdx output; the only trace is the .config file in your build directory.
The identifiers we assign
cpe:2.3:o:zephyrproject:zephyr:{version}:*:*:*:*:*:*:*
{version} is filled in from your build. The version is the same as your Zephyr version.
The SBOM check adds these identifiers to a component your build listed without them.
