HTTP server in Zephyr firmware: identifiers and CRA notes
·
What it is
HTTP server
Notes on this component
HTTP server, marked experimental in Zephyr. CVE family is request parsing and resource handling, reachable by anyone who can open a socket to the device. A server listening on a product in the field is an attack surface worth naming explicitly in the risk assessment. Advisories filed against the HTTP server include CVE-2026-5067 (critical: a Sec-WebSocket-Key that is not null-terminated drives an out-of-bounds read and write during the WebSocket upgrade, affecting 3.7.0 through 4.3.0, with no fix version recorded on the advisory), CVE-2026-12521 (a spurious poll return corrupts the kernel timeout list, fixed in 4.4.2) and CVE-2024-10395 (a buffer under-read in request handling, affecting 3.7 and earlier). Anyone who can open a socket to the device reaches all three, which is the reason this row says to name the server in the risk assessment.
Where it hides in a firmware SBOM
It is compiled into the kernel image when CONFIG_HTTP_SERVER is y. It does not appear in west spdx output; the only trace is the .config file in your build directory.
The identifiers we assign
cpe:2.3:o:zephyrproject:zephyr:{version}:*:*:*:*:*:*:*
{version} is filled in from your build. The version is the same as your Zephyr version.
The SBOM check adds these identifiers to a component your build listed without them.

- Ship the version with no known exploitable vulnerabilities at release. Annex I, Part I (2(a)):
- An SBOM without this subsystem under-reports what is in the image. Annex I, Part II (1):
