HTTP client in Zephyr firmware: identifiers and CRA notes
·
What it is
HTTP client
Notes on this component
HTTP client API and its response parser. CVE family is response parsing: header and chunked-transfer length handling on data from whatever server the device talks to. Nothing has been filed against the HTTP client itself as of 10 October 2026. The client is the path into CVE-2026-10849 (a 1-byte heap out-of-bounds write when assembling a hawkBit server response, fixed in 4.4.2), but that fix landed in hawkBit, not here, and the HTTP advisories Zephyr has filed are against the HTTP server.
Where it hides in a firmware SBOM
It is compiled into the kernel image when CONFIG_HTTP_CLIENT is y. It does not appear in west spdx output; the only trace is the .config file in your build directory.
The identifiers we assign
cpe:2.3:o:zephyrproject:zephyr:{version}:*:*:*:*:*:*:*
{version} is filled in from your build. The version is the same as your Zephyr version.
The SBOM check adds these identifiers to a component your build listed without them.
