Xtensa HAL in Zephyr firmware: identifiers and CRA notes
·
What it is
Xtensa HAL
Notes on this component
The Xtensa HAL, the low-level processor support code for Cadence (Tensilica) Xtensa cores; Zephyr's repository tracks foss-xtensa/xtensa-hal. NVD has no CPE for it. Silicon-vendor code vendored into Zephyr, so the built code is Zephyr's fork and its version is the commit Zephyr pinned, not a vendor release number. Ask Cadence for the SBOM and the product-security notices of the SDK this is taken from.
Where it hides in a firmware SBOM
Zephyr lists a west module by its west name, with no PURL or CPE. Vulnerability feeds cannot find it from that listing alone, which is why the SBOM check adds the identifiers below.
The identifiers we assign
pkg:github/zephyrproject-rtos/hal_xtensa@{version}
{version} is filled in from your build. The version is pinned to the upstream commit your build uses.
The SBOM check adds these identifiers to a component your build listed without them.
