cJSON in Zephyr firmware: identifiers and CRA notes
·
What it is
cJSON
Notes on this component
An nRF Connect SDK addition on top of plain Zephyr: pulled in at `repo-path: sdk-cjson`, `path: modules/lib/cjson` — the manifest's own `userdata.ncs.upstream-url` names it an NCS downstream of DaveGamble/cJSON, vendored at a pinned commit rather than a tag. Same upstream project the esp-idf, buildroot, freertos and nuttx rows already carry under `davegamble`/`cjson`; this row uses the same canonical identity so a vulnerability lookup agrees across platforms, now settled by a shared cJSON identity record that resolves the vendor split NVD lists this library under, which this row's fields already match.
Where it hides in a firmware SBOM
Zephyr lists a west module by its west name, with no PURL or CPE. Vulnerability feeds cannot find it from that listing alone, which is why the SBOM check adds the identifiers below.
The identifiers we assign
pkg:github/DaveGamble/cJSON@{version}cpe:2.3:a:davegamble:cjson:{version}:*:*:*:*:*:*:*
{version} is filled in from your build. The version is pinned to the upstream commit your build uses.
The SBOM check adds these identifiers to a component your build listed without them.
Honest gaps
Vendor: davegamble.
