Bosch BSEC2 in Zephyr firmware: identifiers and CRA notes
·
What it is
Bosch BSEC2
Notes on this component
An nRF Connect SDK addition on top of plain Zephyr: Bosch Sensortec's closed-source environmental fusion library for the BME688 gas sensor (air quality index and related outputs), pulled in from the `bosch` remote at `path: modules/lib/bsec` in a group (`groups: [bsec]`) the manifest excludes by default. It ships as precompiled `libalgobsec.a` archives per processor under `src/` (read in the Bosch-BSEC2-Library file tree), with only headers as source, so it is flagged a binary blob. Shares that group with the `bme68x` row; a build enabling one typically enables both. Its licence file is Bosch's own, not an open-source one: read it before shipping. Bosch publishes no advisory feed for it that this row could cite. The upstream states no CPE, so none is written: no known identifier.
Where it hides in a firmware SBOM
Zephyr lists a west module by its west name, with no PURL or CPE. Vulnerability feeds cannot find it from that listing alone, which is why the SBOM check adds the identifiers below.
The identifiers we assign
pkg:github/boschsensortec/Bosch-BSEC2-Library@{version}
{version} is filled in from your build. The version is read from the upstream release tag.
The SBOM check adds these identifiers to a component your build listed without them.
