u-boot-fslc in Yocto firmware: identifiers and CRA notes
·
What it is
u-boot-fslc
Notes on this component
This is the U-Boot boot loader as carried by the community FSL branch for NXP and Freescale boards: it brings up the hardware and starts the Linux kernel. The U-Boot project's security page asks for reports by email to its mailing list and says the project cannot assign CVE identifiers itself. The recipe's CVE_PRODUCT pair is denx:u-boot, which is the name upstream U-Boot findings are filed under, so a lookup uses both the vendor denx and the product u-boot.
Where it hides in a firmware SBOM
Yocto lists it by recipe name. Vulnerability databases file the same code under a vendor:product pair taken from the recipe's CVE_PRODUCT, so the two names often differ.
The identifiers we assign
cpe:2.3:a:denx:u-boot:{version}:*:*:*:*:*:*:*
{version} is filled in from your build. The version is the recipe version in your image.
The SBOM check adds these identifiers to a component your build listed without them.
