systemd in Yocto firmware: identifiers and CRA notes
·
What it is
systemd
Notes on this component
systemd is the system and service manager that runs as PID 1 and starts the rest of the system. The project links a "Reporting of Security Vulnerabilities" page from its home page. The recipe sets no CVE_VENDOR; the vendor systemd_project in systemd_project:systemd was completed by hand from NVD's CPE dictionary.
Where it hides in a firmware SBOM
Yocto lists it by recipe name. Vulnerability databases file the same code under a vendor:product pair taken from the recipe's CVE_PRODUCT, so the two names often differ.
The identifiers we assign
cpe:2.3:a:systemd_project:systemd:{version}:*:*:*:*:*:*:*
{version} is filled in from your build. The version is the recipe version in your image.
The SBOM check adds these identifiers to a component your build listed without them.
