python3-pycryptodomex in Yocto firmware: identifiers and CRA notes
·
What it is
python3-pycryptodomex
Notes on this component
PyCryptodomex is the Python cryptographic library installed under its own Cryptodome package name, with ciphers, hashes, signatures and key-derivation functions that Python programs call. It is a self-contained fork of the old PyCrypto. The recipe's CVE_PRODUCT pair is pycryptodome:pycryptodomex, so a lookup uses the vendor pycryptodome and the product pycryptodomex.
Where it hides in a firmware SBOM
Yocto lists it by recipe name. Vulnerability databases file the same code under a vendor:product pair taken from the recipe's CVE_PRODUCT, so the two names often differ.
The identifiers we assign
cpe:2.3:a:pycryptodome:pycryptodomex:{version}:*:*:*:*:*:*:*
{version} is filled in from your build. The version is the recipe version in your image.
The SBOM check adds these identifiers to a component your build listed without them.
