python3-pyasn1 in Yocto firmware: identifiers and CRA notes
·
What it is
python3-pyasn1
Notes on this component
pyasn1 is a pure-Python implementation of ASN.1 types with BER, CER and DER encoders and decoders, the encoding used in X.509 certificates and SNMP, so it parses data that arrives from peers. The recipe's CVE_PRODUCT pair is pyasn1:pyasn1, so a lookup uses both names.
Where it hides in a firmware SBOM
Yocto lists it by recipe name. Vulnerability databases file the same code under a vendor:product pair taken from the recipe's CVE_PRODUCT, so the two names often differ.
The identifiers we assign
cpe:2.3:a:pyasn1:pyasn1:{version}:*:*:*:*:*:*:*
{version} is filled in from your build. The version is the recipe version in your image.
The SBOM check adds these identifiers to a component your build listed without them.
