python3-numpy in Yocto firmware: identifiers and CRA notes
·
What it is
python3-numpy
Notes on this component
NumPy is the Python package for fast numeric arrays, used for signal processing and machine learning on devices; its core is compiled C that reads array data and files. The recipe's CVE_PRODUCT pair is numpy:numpy, so a lookup uses both names.
Where it hides in a firmware SBOM
Yocto lists it by recipe name. Vulnerability databases file the same code under a vendor:product pair taken from the recipe's CVE_PRODUCT, so the two names often differ.
The identifiers we assign
cpe:2.3:a:numpy:numpy:{version}:*:*:*:*:*:*:*
{version} is filled in from your build. The version is the recipe version in your image.
The SBOM check adds these identifiers to a component your build listed without them.
