python3-httpx in Yocto firmware: identifiers and CRA notes
·
What it is
python3-httpx
Notes on this component
HTTPX is a Python HTTP client with synchronous and asynchronous interfaces and HTTP/2 support, which a program uses to call web services, so it handles responses from servers it connects to. The recipe's CVE_PRODUCT pair is encode:httpx, so a lookup uses the vendor encode and the product httpx.
Where it hides in a firmware SBOM
Yocto lists it by recipe name. Vulnerability databases file the same code under a vendor:product pair taken from the recipe's CVE_PRODUCT, so the two names often differ.
The identifiers we assign
cpe:2.3:a:encode:httpx:{version}:*:*:*:*:*:*:*
{version} is filled in from your build. The version is the recipe version in your image.
The SBOM check adds these identifiers to a component your build listed without them.
Honest gaps
