python3-dbusmock in Yocto firmware: identifiers and CRA notes
·
What it is
python3-dbusmock
Notes on this component
python3-dbusmock is a Python library that creates fake D-Bus services so that programs can be tried against them without the real service. It is a development and test helper that normally appears in an image only to run such checks. The recipe's CVE_PRODUCT is python-dbusmock_project python-dbusmock, so a lookup uses vendor python-dbusmock_project and product python-dbusmock.
Where it hides in a firmware SBOM
Yocto lists it by recipe name. Vulnerability databases file the same code under a vendor:product pair taken from the recipe's CVE_PRODUCT, so the two names often differ.
The identifiers we assign
cpe:2.3:a:python-dbusmock_project:python-dbusmock:{version}:*:*:*:*:*:*:*
{version} is filled in from your build. The version is the recipe version in your image.
The SBOM check adds these identifiers to a component your build listed without them.
