python3-click in Yocto firmware: identifiers and CRA notes
·
What it is
python3-click
Notes on this component
python3-click is Click, a Python library for building command line tools with options and sub-commands. It runs inside the Python programs that import it and only reads their command line, so it is rarely exposed to outside input. The recipe's CVE_PRODUCT is palletsprojects click, so a lookup uses vendor palletsprojects and product click.
Where it hides in a firmware SBOM
Yocto lists it by recipe name. Vulnerability databases file the same code under a vendor:product pair taken from the recipe's CVE_PRODUCT, so the two names often differ.
The identifiers we assign
cpe:2.3:a:palletsprojects:click:{version}:*:*:*:*:*:*:*
{version} is filled in from your build. The version is the recipe version in your image.
The SBOM check adds these identifiers to a component your build listed without them.
Honest gaps
