python3-attrs in Yocto firmware: identifiers and CRA notes
·
What it is
python3-attrs
Notes on this component
python3-attrs is the attrs library, which generates the boilerplate methods for Python classes that mostly hold data. It runs inside any Python program that imports it and does not handle input from outside the program itself. The recipe's CVE_PRODUCT is attrs_project attrs, so a lookup uses vendor attrs_project and product attrs.
Where it hides in a firmware SBOM
Yocto lists it by recipe name. Vulnerability databases file the same code under a vendor:product pair taken from the recipe's CVE_PRODUCT, so the two names often differ.
The identifiers we assign
cpe:2.3:a:attrs_project:attrs:{version}:*:*:*:*:*:*:*
{version} is filled in from your build. The version is the recipe version in your image.
The SBOM check adds these identifiers to a component your build listed without them.
Honest gaps
Vendor: attrs_project.
