orc in Yocto firmware: identifiers and CRA notes
·
What it is
orc
Notes on this component
orc is the Oil Runtime Compiler, a library that compiles small array-processing routines to SIMD machine code while a program runs, used by GStreamer and others for fast audio and video processing. It runs inside the media programs that link it, and it handles code generated by those programs rather than data from the network. The recipe's CVE_PRODUCT is gstreamer orc, so a lookup uses vendor gstreamer and product orc.
Where it hides in a firmware SBOM
Yocto lists it by recipe name. Vulnerability databases file the same code under a vendor:product pair taken from the recipe's CVE_PRODUCT, so the two names often differ.
The identifiers we assign
cpe:2.3:a:gstreamer:orc:{version}:*:*:*:*:*:*:*
{version} is filled in from your build. The version is the recipe version in your image.
The SBOM check adds these identifiers to a component your build listed without them.
Honest gaps
