links-x11 in Yocto firmware: identifiers and CRA notes
·
What it is
links-x11
Notes on this component
links-x11 is the build of the links web browser with a graphical window on the X Window System. It appears in Yocto because OpenEmbedded also carries recipes for desktop systems, and it is not normally part of an embedded firmware image, so a match against it is worth checking against your own image rather than assumed. The recipe's CVE_PRODUCT is twibright_labs links, so a lookup uses vendor twibright_labs and product links.
Where it hides in a firmware SBOM
Yocto lists it by recipe name. Vulnerability databases file the same code under a vendor:product pair taken from the recipe's CVE_PRODUCT, so the two names often differ.
The identifiers we assign
cpe:2.3:a:twibright_labs:links:{version}:*:*:*:*:*:*:*
{version} is filled in from your build. The version is the recipe version in your image.
The SBOM check adds these identifiers to a component your build listed without them.
Honest gaps
Vendor: twibright_labs.
