libsamplerate0 in Yocto firmware: identifiers and CRA notes
·
What it is
libsamplerate0
Notes on this component
libsamplerate (also called Secret Rabbit Code) is a sample rate converter for audio, for example from the 44.1 kHz of CDs to the 48 kHz of DAT players, with converters that trade quality against computation. It processes audio buffers handed to it by the application. The recipe's CVE_PRODUCT is libsamplerate with no vendor, so a lookup matches on the product name libsamplerate alone.
Where it hides in a firmware SBOM
Yocto lists it by recipe name. Vulnerability databases file the same code under a vendor:product pair taken from the recipe's CVE_PRODUCT, so the two names often differ.
The identifiers we assign
cpe:2.3:a:libsamplerate_project:libsamplerate:{version}:*:*:*:*:*:*:*
{version} is filled in from your build. The version is the recipe version in your image.
The SBOM check adds these identifiers to a component your build listed without them.
