librelp in Yocto firmware: identifiers and CRA notes
·
What it is
librelp
Notes on this component
librelp is the library behind rsyslog's RELP modules, which send syslog messages over the Reliable Event Logging Protocol with optional TLS. The recipe sets rsyslog:librelp, filed under the rsyslog vendor but as its own product, so a search for rsyslog:rsyslog does not include it.
Where it hides in a firmware SBOM
Yocto lists it by recipe name. Vulnerability databases file the same code under a vendor:product pair taken from the recipe's CVE_PRODUCT, so the two names often differ.
The identifiers we assign
cpe:2.3:a:rsyslog:librelp:{version}:*:*:*:*:*:*:*
{version} is filled in from your build. The version is the recipe version in your image.
The SBOM check adds these identifiers to a component your build listed without them.
