libatomic-ops in Yocto firmware: identifiers and CRA notes
·
What it is
libatomic-ops
Notes on this component
libatomic_ops provides the atomic memory operations and lock-free primitives that the Boehm garbage collector and other multi-threaded C programs rely on when the compiler does not supply them. It is a low-level helper without a network or file interface of its own. The recipe's CVE_PRODUCT is libatomic_ops with no vendor, so a lookup matches that product name alone, not the recipe name libatomic-ops.
Where it hides in a firmware SBOM
Yocto lists it by recipe name. Vulnerability databases file the same code under a vendor:product pair taken from the recipe's CVE_PRODUCT, so the two names often differ.
The identifiers we assign
cpe:2.3:a:libatomic_ops_project:libatomic_ops:{version}:*:*:*:*:*:*:*
{version} is filled in from your build. The version is the recipe version in your image.
The SBOM check adds these identifiers to a component your build listed without them.
