grub in Yocto firmware: identifiers and CRA notes
·
What it is
grub
Notes on this component
GNU GRUB is a Multiboot boot loader: the first program that runs on many PCs and servers and that loads the operating system kernel, reading its configuration and file systems from disk. The project page links its bug reporting and development lists. The recipe's CVE_PRODUCT is grub2 with no vendor, so a lookup uses the product name grub2 alone, even though this recipe ships the same upstream source under the name grub.
Where it hides in a firmware SBOM
Yocto lists it by recipe name. Vulnerability databases file the same code under a vendor:product pair taken from the recipe's CVE_PRODUCT, so the two names often differ.
The identifiers we assign
cpe:2.3:a:gnu:grub2:{version}:*:*:*:*:*:*:*
{version} is filled in from your build. The version is the recipe version in your image.
The SBOM check adds these identifiers to a component your build listed without them.
