fuse3 in Yocto firmware: identifiers and CRA notes
·
What it is
fuse3
Notes on this component
fuse3 is the 3.x series of libfuse, which lets a userspace program export a filesystem to the Linux kernel; its setuid root helper fusermount3 lets ordinary users mount their own. The README warns that the result of the first permission check on a directory entry is reused for later accesses, which matters when allow_other is used without default_permissions. The recipe sets the single pair fuse_project:fuse, the same one the older fuse recipe uses.
Where it hides in a firmware SBOM
Yocto lists it by recipe name. Vulnerability databases file the same code under a vendor:product pair taken from the recipe's CVE_PRODUCT, so the two names often differ.
The identifiers we assign
cpe:2.3:a:fuse_project:fuse:{version}:*:*:*:*:*:*:*
{version} is filled in from your build. The version is the recipe version in your image.
The SBOM check adds these identifiers to a component your build listed without them.
