fuse in Yocto firmware: identifiers and CRA notes
·
What it is
fuse
Notes on this component
FUSE lets a userspace program export a filesystem to the Linux kernel through libfuse, and the setuid root helper fusermount lets ordinary users mount their own. The README warns that the result of the first permission check on a directory entry is reused for later accesses, which matters when allow_other is used without default_permissions. The recipe lists fuse_project:fuse and fuse:fuse, so a lookup should try both.
Where it hides in a firmware SBOM
Yocto lists it by recipe name. Vulnerability databases file the same code under a vendor:product pair taken from the recipe's CVE_PRODUCT, so the two names often differ.
The identifiers we assign
cpe:2.3:a:fuse_project:fuse:{version}:*:*:*:*:*:*:*
{version} is filled in from your build. The version is the recipe version in your image.
The SBOM check adds these identifiers to a component your build listed without them.
