dpdk in Yocto firmware: identifiers and CRA notes

What it is
dpdk
Notes on this component
DPDK (Data Plane Development Kit) is a set of libraries for fast packet processing in user space, found on network appliances. The project's security page says vulnerabilities must not be reported through Bugzilla and follow its own vulnerability management process, with a security team contact. The recipe's CVE_PRODUCT gives the product name data_plane_development_kit with no vendor, so the CPE built from it has a wildcard vendor and a lookup has to match on the product name alone. NVD also lists nvidia under this product name, 3 times against 97 for dpdk; the main vendor is used.
Where it hides in a firmware SBOM
Yocto lists it by recipe name. Vulnerability databases file the same code under a vendor:product pair taken from the recipe's CVE_PRODUCT, so the two names often differ.
The identifiers we assign
cpe:2.3:a:dpdk:data_plane_development_kit:{version}:*:*:*:*:*:*:*
{version} is filled in from your build. The version is the recipe version in your image.
The SBOM check adds these identifiers to a component your build listed without them.
