cockpit in Yocto firmware: identifiers and CRA notes
·
What it is
cockpit
Notes on this component
Cockpit is a web-based graphical interface for administering servers: a small web service on the device that lets an administrator manage services, storage, networking and logs from a browser. The project publishes a security policy on its GitHub page. The recipe's CVE_PRODUCT pair is cockpit-project:cockpit, so a lookup uses the vendor cockpit-project and the product cockpit.
Where it hides in a firmware SBOM
Yocto lists it by recipe name. Vulnerability databases file the same code under a vendor:product pair taken from the recipe's CVE_PRODUCT, so the two names often differ.
The identifiers we assign
cpe:2.3:a:cockpit-project:cockpit:{version}:*:*:*:*:*:*:*
{version} is filled in from your build. The version is the recipe version in your image.
The SBOM check adds these identifiers to a component your build listed without them.
