apache2 in Yocto firmware: identifiers and CRA notes
·
What it is
apache2
Notes on this component
Apache HTTP Server is a web server. Security reports go to a private list run by the ASF Security Team, and the project site lists vulnerabilities for the 2.4 series; the 2.2, 2.0 and 1.3 series are archived and no longer receive fixes. The recipe sets apache:http_server, so the product name is http_server, not the recipe name apache2.
Where it hides in a firmware SBOM
Yocto lists it by recipe name. Vulnerability databases file the same code under a vendor:product pair taken from the recipe's CVE_PRODUCT, so the two names often differ.
The identifiers we assign
cpe:2.3:a:apache:http_server:{version}:*:*:*:*:*:*:*
{version} is filled in from your build. The version is the recipe version in your image.
The SBOM check adds these identifiers to a component your build listed without them.
