alsa-plugins in Yocto firmware: identifiers and CRA notes
·
What it is
alsa-plugins
Notes on this component
alsa-plugins is the set of extra plug-ins for the ALSA sound library (the Advanced Linux Sound Architecture), for example for resampling and for routing audio to other sound servers. Its code runs inside any program that plays or records sound through ALSA. The recipe's CVE_PRODUCT is alsa with no vendor, so a lookup matches on the product name alsa alone and the result can include findings from other ALSA parts.
Where it hides in a firmware SBOM
Yocto lists it by recipe name. Vulnerability databases file the same code under a vendor:product pair taken from the recipe's CVE_PRODUCT, so the two names often differ.
The identifiers we assign
cpe:2.3:a:alsa-project:alsa:{version}:*:*:*:*:*:*:*
{version} is filled in from your build. The version is the recipe version in your image.
The SBOM check adds these identifiers to a component your build listed without them.
