libpng in ESP-IDF firmware: identifiers and CRA notes
What it is
libpng
Notes on this component
Espressif's Component Registry packaging of the official PNG reference implementation (`pnggroup/libpng`), for a project that pulls it in as a managed dependency rather than a built-in component. Its CVEs are filed under `libpng:libpng`, the same pair used for upstream libpng.
Where it hides in a firmware SBOM
ESP-IDF records it from the component's own sbom.yml file, so what the SBOM says depends on what that file declares.
The identifiers we assign
pkg:github/pnggroup/libpng@{version}cpe:2.3:a:libpng:libpng:{version}:*:*:*:*:*:*:*
{version} is filled in from your build.
The SBOM check adds these identifiers to a component your build listed without them.
