jsmn in ESP-IDF firmware: identifiers and CRA notes
What it is
jsmn
Notes on this component
Espressif's idf-extra-components packaging of Serge Zaitsev's minimalistic JSON parser (`zserge/jsmn`), vendored at a pinned commit rather than forked. No NVD CPE entry exists for it, but it has a real filed CVE: CVE-2026-88369, a buffer overflow (CWE-125) in the upstream project's own `example/jsondump.c`, reachable through the same parser calls this component exposes.
Where it hides in a firmware SBOM
ESP-IDF records it from the component's own sbom.yml file, so what the SBOM says depends on what that file declares.
The identifiers we assign
pkg:github/zserge/jsmn@{version}
{version} is filled in from your build.
The SBOM check adds these identifiers to a component your build listed without them.
