Espressif's ESP-Matter SDK (Project CHIP / Matter) in ESP-IDF firmware: identifiers and CRA notes
What it is
Espressif's ESP-Matter SDK (Project CHIP / Matter)
Notes on this component
esp-matter is NOT part of the esp-idf repository and does not ship with every ESP-IDF build: it is a separate Espressif SDK (its own repo, built on top of project-chip/connectedhomeip) that a Matter-enabled project adds as an extra component, so this row only applies when the document actually names it — most ESP-IDF SBOMs will have no such component at all, which is correct and not a gap. No CPE exists for esp-matter or for Espressif's connectedhomeip fork; project-chip/connectedhomeip itself (the upstream Matter SDK) is tracked separately and is out of scope for this row.
Where it hides in a firmware SBOM
ESP-IDF records it from the component's own sbom.yml file, so what the SBOM says depends on what that file declares.
The identifiers we assign
pkg:github/espressif/esp-matter@{version}
{version} is filled in from your build.
The SBOM check adds these identifiers to a component your build listed without them.
