ESP-IDF esp_https_ota in ESP-IDF firmware: identifiers and CRA notes
What it is
ESP-IDF esp_https_ota
Notes on this component
The HTTPS-based OTA update client built on esp_http_client and esp_ota_ops. It downloads and writes new firmware over HTTPS, so it sits on the update path and relies on certificate checking being configured. Espressif ships it as first-party ESP-IDF source with no release line or advisory feed of its own, so the only identifier that exists for it is ESP-IDF's.
Where it hides in a firmware SBOM
ESP-IDF records it from the component's own sbom.yml file, so what the SBOM says depends on what that file declares.
The identifiers we assign
pkg:github/espressif/esp-idf@{version}cpe:2.3:a:espressif:esp-idf:{version}:*:*:*:*:*:*:*
{version} is filled in from your build.
The SBOM check adds these identifiers to a component your build listed without them.
