OpenThread in ESP-IDF firmware: identifiers and CRA notes
What it is
OpenThread
Notes on this component
ESP-IDF vendors openthread/openthread as a submodule for its Thread (802.15.4) stack, the same upstream project the Zephyr `openthread` module and subsystem entries identify. It keeps the same `cpe:2.3:o:google:openthread` and `pkg:github/openthread/openthread` here on purpose, so a component under either platform's enrichment resolves to the same upstream, not two. NVD names OpenThread's own releases by date rather than a tag string, so no version is templated into the CPE (the Zephyr entries do the same).
Where it hides in a firmware SBOM
ESP-IDF records it from the component's own sbom.yml file, so what the SBOM says depends on what that file declares.
The identifiers we assign
pkg:github/openthread/openthread@{version}cpe:2.3:o:google:openthread:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*
{version} is filled in from your build.
The SBOM check adds these identifiers to a component your build listed without them.
